Back Entrance & Laundry Room Re-Do

Or Alternatively Titled: Ikea, I Just Can't Quit You

Oh, Inter-web.  You have no idea how thrilled I am to be done this project.  The back entrance/laundry room has been the bane of my existence!  And being it's the first room you see when you come home, it made me grumpy to just walk in the door.  And who wants that.  So I schemed and planned and connived - and then said the words Glenn dreads hearing, "I've been doing some thinking...."

So I hit up Ikea.  I tried - oh I tried to find solutions & products at other stores.  But no one compares.  No one.  I don't like a room that looks too "Ikea-sih".  But in this case, it just wasn't doable.  So I gave in.  Every piece felt like it was made for this room.  The measurements, color & purpose fit like a glove.

So without any further rambling.....the before & afters!

Ok, so I may have packed away most of our winter jackets & pants.  But can't you just feel the room breath a big-happy sigh?

It is so awesome to have easily - accessible baskets for the stuff we grab everyday.  No more grabbing bins off a shelf that I can just barely reach - that usually fall on my head and then I stand there digging around trying to find what I need.  Plus, this Ikea shoe cabinet rocks my socks.  You wouldn't believe how much stuff it holds!

This stool is the perfect place for Lucy to sit and take off her shoes, plus it holds all of the re-usable bags that I'm constantly grabbing as we are running out the door.

I love coming home.  I feel like our home is happy to see us when we walk through the door and says "bye" when we leave.  I don't mind doing laundry now - it makes me smile to be in my happy little room.

(sorry about the grainy quality of some of the pictures.  This room gets no natural light at all.  One of the reasons for the lighter - fresher paint color (which looks quite green in these pictures, but is actually a silver grey-blue).  Some pictures I had the garage door open for, but others it wasn't possible)
