When I was pregnant my sister got us a book called "Little Pea". The gist of the story is that Peas' eat candy for supper and get spinach for dessert (they love spinach). There is one part of the book where the parents are trying to get Little Pea to eat 5 more bites. Lucy loves this part......
PS We used to called Lucy "Little P" when I was pregnant!
PPS after we had put Lucy to bed, we could hear her in her crib saying "yuck...ick..." so funny!

Meet Glowy
The Glow-Worm: Circa 1980-something
She was mine and I loved her with all my little heart. I would cuddle her, sleep with her, tell her all my troubles....oh, and did I mention when you squeeze her she glows?
My parents kept Glowy in a box for the last 20-something years. They recently brought her back to life.
Mom gave her a good scrub-down and my Dad put a new lightbulb and re-did all the wiring (which had rusted out). Then they sent Glowey to my daughter with the following note:
"Your mom hugged this Glow-Worm when she was little, now you can hug her hugs!"
Oh my stars, Lucy do you know how lucky you are to have such wonderful grand-parents?

Lately
Someone said to me recently that they try not to think of their lives as "busy" but as "full".
I really like this sentiment and feel like it has described our life lately. Full.
Lucy and I had an great visit in Edmonton with Tish & Jackson, Aunty Shannon & Uncle Paul, and Gma & Gpa. There was some underlying flu & colds going on but it didn't dampen our much needed sister-time. I didn't take a single picture but Tish took lots so hopefully she posts some.
Granny Lewis passed away and we were in Pincher Creek to pay tribute to her life. She was a wonderful & gracious lady and you can see the choices she made in her life reflected in the generations of her amazing family.
Many other little ordinary life things but these were two major things I wanted documented....

First Night Away
To help us celebrate our 10th Anniversary, my parents offered to come and stay the night with Lucy and Glenn & I could have a mini-getaway.
It was heavenly....beautiful room, snacks, movies, TV in the bathroom, sleeping in & crepes for breakfast. But come morning, we were anxious to see our little girl again.
Thanks Hubby for the relaxing night & Thanks Gma and Gpa for caring for our Lucy.

10 Years
Ten years ago, right about now....
I woke up earlier then normal for me and had a really long bath. I sat there and kept thinking (mostly in disbelief) "today is my wedding day!!!" I had some breakfast and puttered around. Mom knew I was still tired and restless, so I laid down on her & dad's bed. She gave me a shoulder rub and off I went back to sleep. A few hours later the busy-ness of a wedding ensued.
And then at 4pm I was taking deep breaths standing in between my mom & dad. I was trying to settle the butterflies in my stomach.....I was nervous. Not nervous because of what I was about to do, but nervous because of all the people watching me walk down the proverbial aisle to join with this man for life.
I have been thinking alot about our wedding day lately. Many people say that their wedding day was the best day of their life. Honestly? I don't know. That day & the day Lucy was born are very-very important to me. But now, ten years later I have come to realize the day(s) more important then that day: September 29, 2000. They are-
3,650 days of better
3,650 days of worse
3,650 days of richness
3,650 days of hardship
3,650 days of sickness
3,650 days of health
3,650 days of love
While September 29, 2000 will always be very special to us....today, I'm more grateful for the 3,650 days in between. Because those 3,650 days prove that we meant what we said in our vows 10 years ago today. Here's to hoping we keep that sentiment for the rest of our lives.............
Happy Anniversary to my Glenn.....I am a very lucky woman

Mom's 60th Birthday Celebration
How do we show our wonderful mother a great time for her 60th Birthday?
Despite a few mishaps, we did our best. Us girls had so much fun planning this little party.
We had an intimate dinner at the lovely-lovely Devonian Gardens. Mom's siblings all suprised her - I think she really was suprised! It was a wonderful evening....now we are just basking in the memories!
I hardly took any pictures....just waiting on my sisters & uncles shots as I'm sure they got some good ones!

Saskatoon Farm
How lucky am I to have such wonderful in-laws that meet me half-way for lunch on a random Thursday?
Very-very lucky, I say.

Picnic in the Park
Trying to take advantage of the beautiful summer weather we had an impromptu (the best kind!) picnic at Bowness Park. It felt like the rest of the city was there too, but we had a great time!
Weekend at Grandma & Grandpa's
Dad recently got a new fishing boat so of course we HAD to go and help try it out. Lucy spent most of the weekend obsessed by my Mom & Dad's fountain. She is so crazy as the water was freezing....but she didn't care! Grandma was worried about her slipping and falling so she had a belt tied around her waist - worked great!

Glenn's Birthday
Glenn's Birthday was this past Wednesday and this late post is an example of how the last 2 years of Birthday's have been for poor Glenn.
Last year I went into labour on Glenn's Birthday so obviously no celebrating went on. This year not only were we busy preparing for Lucy's party, but Glenn had minor shoulder surgery the day before. He insisted that he doesn't really like Birthday's so he didn't care that there wasn't alot of fanfare. Anyways, Husband/Da-Da, please don't take the lack of celebration as any indication of how much we love you.....you are our most favouritist person in the whole wide world and we are VERY HAPPY you were born 37 years ago!!
Lucy "helping" me make Glenn's cake.
Happy Birthday Glenn!
Only picture of the Birthday Boy as he hadn't showered or shaved
(this was Dr's orders and he didn't want that documented with pictures)

Mothers Day 2010
My first Mothers Day!! Glenn did a great job planning....
Started off the day with a wee sleep-in while Glenn & Lucy made a lovely breakfast with all my favourites! Croissants, fruit & yogurt! (and chocolate cake for breakfast....Bill Cosby anyone?? inside joke between Glenn & I)
Then Glenn had planned for us to go to the Saskatoon Farm for lunch. Which was a wonderful idea....I love it there! Unfortunately all of Southern Alberta (it seemed like it anyways.....) had the same plan. We never got to eat lunch as it was over an hour wait. But we had a lovely time walking the grounds, checking out the store, browsing the greenhouse (have I told you happy greenhouses make me? I could be in one all day) and watching the hilarious roosters.
We later met Glenn's family for supper (at Wendy's....classy!!) as they were on there way through the city.
All in all a lovely day......but the very best part? Spending it with my amazing little girl and her amazing daddy.

A Hewlett Christmas
Short visit, but oh-so-sweet! We headed up to Sherwood Park on New Year's Day and came home after lunch on Sunday. We had the traditional Turkey Dinner & Presents on Saturday with the everyone. We even managed a picture of the whole family - which is on Shannon's camera and we have to wait for a copy of. A great time was had by all!
(Oh yes, I got Lucy her first Barbie - although it may be more for me then her at this point!)

A Lewis Christmas
AKA "Good Thing I Didn't Read the Ending First"
We headed down to Pincher Creek on Christmas Eve. There was a big gathering at Berwin & Sandra's. games, visiting and of course lots of food.
Christmas Day was at Robin & Kims. Visiting, games, skating, music, presents and lots and lots of food! Lucy even enjoyed some Xmas Dinner mashed potatoes.
Snowmobiling on Boxing Day. Lucy did great for her first experience snowmobiling and at a weiner roast!
About 1/2 of us came down with a flu bug towards the end of the holidays. Ugg, not fun.
Sidebar: want to test your parental stamina? have a daughter that wakes up almost every hour in the middle of the night (normally she sleeps blissfully for 12 hours) while both mom & dad are up barfing and in someone elses house. sigh....I'm glad that night is over and I am now also suspecting that Lucy is teething.
